IDI's Summer Contradictions. What are yours?

Taking a quick break from design to talk about the weather :)  We love the summer for many reasons but they all come with compromise.  Here are a few of those contradictions that baffle us:

1. We love open windows for the breeze, cross-ventilation, etc.  Even the cat loves to sunbather on the sill and happily chases the occasional bug that flies in.  But are the mosquitoes and the extra dust and dirt that creeps up faster than we can say "design" worth it?

2. We love to wear pretty sandals and slippers to show off pedicured feet, but is the end of day grime that cakes on and the hours of nail cleaning worth it?

3.  We love working minutes from the beach but not being able to spend time on the sand is a bummer (and we don't mean the sand that they are digging out of the basement either) :(

4.  We love to ride our bicycles for the fitness factor and the killer tans, but not so happy to walk with extra clothes cause the cute outfits we donned earlier are now glued to our bodies.

5.  It's so hot we have to wear barely there clothes, but how do we look "professional" without sweating like pigs in the professional attire?  Not even linen works these days...

Don't get it twisted though, we LOVE summertime especially in NY.  The free concerts, the skimpily clad hot body people, the cultural explosions, and the great number of beautiful people that come out of hibernation.  The downside is that we have to work and waste a way a lot of the beautiful weather working in doors most of the day.

Summer is really full of contradictions.  What are yours?
