Conscious design. Luxury ecosystems.

Ishka Designs (IDI) is a full-service interior design firm based in Brooklyn, New York. The firm’s heritage-informed body of work focuses on artisanship, longevity, and minimalism cultivating mindful, timeless interiors for a nonconformist, global clientele ranging from high-end residential to commercial projects. A by-product of almost every IDI project is the manifestation of site- specific products running the gamut from lighting to furniture to textiles: emblems of the team’s emphasis on trust as a core value. IDI projects strongly reflect our clients and/or their brands as a result of an intentional and mindful design process.

IDI’s environments are most often cultivated through extensive collaborations and long-term relationships with local artisans, and vendors. In addition, the firm takes a conscious approach throughout the design process, inherently aware of how decisions impact the environment and the people.

Residential projects primarily include major renovations, ground-up construction, decor, and exteriors. These projects can be found within the U.S., France, and the Caribbean. Hospitality projects range from restaurants to vacation properties globally, while commerical project experience consists of a daycare, and other healthcare facilities

In addition to extensive press, Ishka Designs has been named to the Elle Décor A-List since 2019, and was recently listed as a 1stDibs 50 Honoree.

Niya Bascom, Creative Director

Niya Bascom is a creative nomad whose focus is on informing luxury environments with the cosmopolitan spirit and beauty of quality art and artisanal craft.  Through his work at Ishka Designs, Bascom references his extensive travels, as well as his breadth of experience in the film industry through set design to cultivate IDI’s signature interiors.  Guided by his values of pursuing longevity, bespoke expressions, authentic narratives and tasteful curation, Bascom’s work adds weight and elegance to Ishka Designs.  With a penchant for vintage sourcing and an alacrity for mindfully connecting with emerging, local artists anywhere he is, he has consistently incorporated heirloom object and the works by artists he’s searched out into IDI spaces. His work in these areas elevates the firm’s interiors into complete narratives.   Additionally, Bascom’s eye for beauty has been trained through the lens:  as a photographer his work has been featured in galleries, embassies and museums including Danny Simmons’ Rush Arts gallery and the Polish embassy for Swarovski crystal. His images have also been featured in several publications including House Beautiful.

Anishka Clarke, Interior Design Director

Following a decade in the financial services sector both in Jamaica and the U.S., Anishka switched careers, co-founding Ishka Designs in 2007 after committing full-time to the world of art and design. Her company’s principles are influenced by an endemic value system - mindfulness, minimalism, authenticity, natural living, bespoke craft, and timelessness.

In 2021, she sat as an advisory Board member for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, and held a similar seat for the New York School of Interior Design’s Undergraduate program 2019 - 2020.  She has earned several community based awards. She is an Interior Design honors graduate (Summa Cum Laude) of the Fashion Institute of Technology (2007), holds an MBA from Stern Business School, New York University (2002), and graduated with honours from the University of the West Indies with a degree in Accounting and Economics (1996).
